Carter's Tagless Labels

This post was originally posted in early January. While, I was going through my daugthers clothes this morning, I found a few more items with the lables. I thought I should repost it.
.
About 4 months ago, Carter's put out a "recall" of their "tag-less" labels in their Fall 2007 clothing line. The labels were causing an irratation (even burn) to babies skin. They are taking back your appropriate clothing items for the Suggested Retail Price. For example - that means if you got a onesie on sale (that is on the recall list) for $3, they will take it back for the SRP of $18 (if that was the SRP.) Most of Carter's clothes are tag-less so realize it is not every Carter's item in your closet.
.
Go to THIS LINK to see if you have any of these items. My daughter had a lot due to the timing of her birth. Oddly enough, once I returned all her clothes, a rash she had on her upper back disappeared. We got back a check last month for her returned items. This is an example of their Fall 2007 "tag-less" labels.

I have a top but not the bottom that goes with it. Will they give me anything for that?

Do you have to say that your child is having a problem with the clothes?

Frugal Coupon Living said...

Yes, i sent a top no bottom. just say you are concerned. the child does not have to have the rash.

i sent in a ton of clothes of my son's and got a big check several months ago. there are no strings attached, and it is an easy way to spruce up your child's wardrobe without spending any money!

Hi Ashley,
I have tons of clothe with these tags. Do you think i still can send them the clothe. Does that matter if it new or not?

Does anyone know if this applies only to baby clothes or does it include bigger kids clothes too? I have a ton of hand me downs I should look through!

I'm trying to decide if this is worth it for me. I have a lot of items from my girls with these labels...but many of them I would still use. Is it worth it to send these in?? Do you just describe each item to them over the phone?

Are they still doing this?

At first I didn't think I had any of these, but I realized I had bought several items at a yard sale recently that have these labels. I called Carter's and they are sending me a box! Thanks!

They are still doing it. I got a lot from hand-me-downs, yard sales, and also from gifts. They were all used and worn. You do not describe the clothes over the phone, you just send them in and they give you full price. Even if you only paid $1 for them.

Please try to keep in mind Carter's intention and not turn it into greed. Seems like frugal sometimes borders on dishonesty.

I understand keeping Carter's intention in mind and I completely agree, but I find it slightly rude that you would insinuate that frugal people border on dishonesty. So do people that don't watch their money and blow everything they have are automatically honest? It almost feels like you are saying frugal people border on being criminals.

This is great! Im calling tommorrow to get my box....

I agree with Linda. If your kids are using these clothes right now then this Carter offer is for you. If your kids have outgrown them and these are just stored away don't take advantage of Carter! That is dishonest and quite frankly fraudulent. Use the system as it was meant for, don't take advantage for your personal gain.

Just had to make two comments. 1) I love your site and it has helped me get on track to save so much money! Thanks for all your hard work so it makes saving money easier for the rest of us! 2) I am going to dig through my clothes to see if I have any of these outfits. Even if they are in storage right now they will more than likely be sold or handed down to other children in the future who may or may not be allergic to the product. So I do not think it is dishonest because you may be saving another child from getting the rash. I think this is Carter's real intention! They do not want their products in circulation (think about how many children's clothes are passed around - yard sales, consignment, thrift stores). They want these clothes unavailable to avoid law suits!

We definitely are each entitled to our opinion. Thank you for working to keep your thoughts fair and free from unfair/mean comments.

My daughter did get rashes from this label-- and thanks to your website I"m going to be able to return the clothes to Carters! I would hate to pass them on and have another child experience a reaction and have a new mom as confused as I was! Atleast Chloe's wasn't very bad!
