Recalls

You might remember the trouble I have had with recalls (one refrigerator in particular) over the past year. Stephanie just wrote me to tell me that her refrigerator has now been recalled (the updated the recall list from mine in April.) I highly recommend joining the CPSC (Consumer Prodcut and Safety Commission) recall list Here. My recall almost burnt down my house and after a month of a "back and forth" mess, my family was able to get a new refrigerator for free (of course that was after the refrigerator was on fire and the fire department came out!)

Recall - Aqua-Leisure Industries Baby Floats

I REALLY appreciate Chief Family Officer. I never knew of recalls in my home until recent months - you can read my many recall stories Here. I have found out about all but one of my recalls from Chief Family Officer. See her latest recall info Here including Aqua-Leisure Baby Floats (we have TWO in our home.) Thanks CFO.

How Can I Get Maytag to Listen to Me?

Today while watching the evening news the phone rang (caller ID comes up on the television with The Dish.) There have been a couple times when I about jumped out of my chair when the phone was ringing.
.
1) Paramount Studious was calling (the first time we didn't jump because we thought it was a marketing call, but the second time when I realized the Dr. Phil show was interested in me being on their program - I ran to the phone.)
.
2) When Whirlpool/Maytag called (today.)
.
We got our money for our refrigerator!!!
(See recall issues Here.)
.
Here is how...we wrote the President's email's address! Being proactive really pays off!
Thanks for all of your prayers!

Recall Update

Well the new Refrigerator arrived (former story Here) I am pleased with that. Still working on customer service and getting some more money for it. At this point, I do not recommend Maytag, but that is solely based on customer service and not on durability (well if it caught fire, it might not be very durable...so I just don't recommend them.)
.
How I Have Dealt with Customer Service Complaints of this Magnitude in the Past:
.
1) I write letters and emails - usually about a dozen (of the same letter) and always send them to the highest level possible. Once my husband and I did this for a 3 1/2 year old television we had - it just stopped woring one day. It was a Samsung and we got half of the money back - which we were able to put toward a new TV. I was very pleased with their customer service.
.
2) I write complaints - I sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and to Florida Department of Consumer Services (800HelpFla for my state.)
.
3) I use their words - for this past Maytag problem, in our letter, we used the words found in a report they published not to long about about their customer service and promises of the products.
Where Will This Get Us?
If no where, I trust that God is in charge and continue to thank Him for the blessing of our intact house! If somewhere, I am thankful for the time I have invested in this process. I usually have sucess most of the time, so the time is worth it to me. A little time on your end can make a big difference in saving an extra dollar, or two or hundreds.
.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

Oh What a Day...

I am working hard on getting emails answered, the Walgreens post up, and more deals for you guys. Thanks for your patience.
.
Today was a blur getting everything done with the refrigerator. We have to rent one for a month (out of our pocket) and then we had to pay a GOOD CHUNK of the new refrigerator...nothing of what I am excited about. I had to pay to get it here as soon as it could, fighting it at this point would only delay its delivery. I WILL put my typing skills to the test and write a letter to the President (and probably a handful of other departments) telling them of my concerns/frustration - basically my house was almost burnt down because of the recall and I am paying for a part of a new refrigerator. As I said today was such a blur that I TOTALLY forgot the refrigerator rental was coming to the house and showed up 45 minutes AFTER the initial time frame of the delivery...I pulled up to my street only to see them pulling away from my house (they had been waiting awhile and I honked and honked my horn. Thank God they kindly came back.) Poor guys...after making them wait for a long time, I then BEGGED them to remove my old refrigerator (they had to do it by removing two doors off the hinges to get it into the garage.) This clearly was not their job (they are a rental agency.) They saw my desperation. I gave them a good tip, though!

Recall - Refrigerator Update

Well the refrigerator guys came out and said that there definitely was a fire in the wires. The relay burnt the compressor (BOTH of the items that were recalled in the original recall.) The weird thing about this all is that we have been in this house for 4 years, had the refrigerator all along (it is even older than us being here - the previous owners had it) and never had a problem. It worked great and NEVER needed a repair. The DAY BEFORE the item was going to be fixed, it burned. It is unrepairable and just a few extra minutes/hours would have lit up the kitchen, house, etc. I am so grateful for God and his plans. THANK YOU GOD. While I was upset at the time that my new cell phone did not work out, HE lead me home.
.
Anyways, today my agenda has changed and I am going to be renting a refrigerator and dealing with Maytag about the replacement (they want me to pay for some of it which I do not find fair considering the thing caught on fire and almost burnt my house.) We will see what happens. I will work hard to get the CVS/Walgreens lists up today but my time will be stretched. I WILL have it out before the sales start.
.
Thanks guys for your sweet comments. I have such wonderful readers. I always tell my husband this.

The Lord Is Good...

Oh what a day! Remember my recall post Here. I found out my Maytag refrigerator was recalled Sunday and the repair was supposed to take place tomorrow. Here are the events of the day.
.
I met my husband at Sprint for a new cell phone (doing research to get a better plan.) The cell phone did not work so instead of taking the normal 45 minutes to get set up we spent around 15 minutes in the store. I HAD to come home (I had no plans to, I was going to be out for 2 more hours) but I did not have a moment to cut my coupons for my Publix run today. So, my daughter and I came home to get the coupons.
.
I walked in the house and paniced. Clearly SOMETHING was burning. My initial response was that it was the dishwasher (It has been on and I assumed plastic fell down around the metal)...it wasn't. I check the fire place (gas) the laundry room, everywhere (but the refrigerator.) After calling 911 (my mother instinct told me something was REALLY bad) I carried the baby, doggies, and cat all outside to the front yard (with my LOVELY neighbors - thanks guys.) My husband, who was on the phone with me asked if I got my computer (haha) - I had not, but I did go back inside, okay so I shouldn't have.
.
All in all, the department came, took care of identifying the problem - it was the refridgerator (not full flames yet! - PRAISE THE LORD) and the repair company is on the way. It was all electrical. Had a waited longer...well you know the rest.
.
What to take away 1) I am taking these recalls seriously - getting them done ASAP 2) I will NEVER be fearful to call 911 when my daughter and I could be in trouble 3) The Biggest and MOST IMPORTANT Lesson - GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME. I was NOT supposed to come home for a couple of hours and he arranged the events of the day so that I did. Thank you, Lord.
.
I am sure you understand why this is my last post for today. See/talk to you guys tomorrow.

Recalls

In the past 6 months, THREE items in my household have been recalled. The crazy thing is I am not someone who scans the internet for recalls. Obviously, my blog takes me all over the internet and that is why I am fortunate to have run into two of these recalls, but the other recall was just the grace of God.

1) Carters Tagless Labels - This recall was due to a burn/rash issue on children where the label lies. I am sure MANY of you have these clothes in your house. I actually just had a baby right after these clothes came out so my daughter's closet was flooded with these items. You can read more about this recall Here or see my post Here. This company was VERY pleasant to deal with. They even sent my daughter a little Teddy Bear. With this recall I got a check for the SUGGESTED RETAIL VALUE (not the sale price I always pay) for these clothes.

2) Munire Baby "Newport Rubbed Black" Furniture - This recall was due lead in their paint. Very comforting and pleasant with a new baby, especially one whom I found once chewing on her crib (yes, my daughter eats EVERYTHING!) Her mouth was covered in black (the chipped paint!) This company was very difficult to deal with, especially because I was going straight to the manufacturer and not through the distributor (since my distributor filed bankruptcy and no longer was in business.) Once, the crib and changing table made it as far as my DRIVEWAY, only to turn around and drive 180 miles BACK to the shipping company because the guy could not get the items off the truck. Don't you think they would KNOW how heavy the items were when the put them on the truck?!? Read more Here. With this recall I got a brand new bedroom set to replace my daughter's old set. I also bought a bumper to prevent my daughter from chewing on the newest crib Here (I bought two since this is a larger crib...the two fit together. I DO recommend this item.)
3) Maytag Refrigerator - This recall is due to a fire hazard - another comforting thought! I just found this in Parade magazine weekend this weekend- a magazine I ONLY look through to see if there are any coupons. I am waiting to see how easy this company is to deal with but so far so good! More info on this recall Here. This company is ONLY replacing the compressor - I would LOVE a new refrigerator, though!
