Wal-Mart Update

Today I chatted with Wal-Mart corporate and also with some fellow bloggers who have highlighted Wal-Mart. Many of you were concerned because when you visited your Wal-Mart stores the sales did not match that I had posted earlier this week. After a handful of discussion I have learned Wal-Marts deal are regional...how big the region is, I am not sure. I have been told, however, than can vary by store to store in the same city (on the same street!) Isn't that difficult?!? I have not come to a conclusion on what I am going to do about Wal-Mart posts. While rollback (sale) prices will not vary too much from regular prices in Wal-Mart they can make a difference when it comes to couponing. Bear with me as I continue to sort this out and make my final decision on posting for Wal-Mart.

Thanks, Ashley

I encountered problems using printed coupons TWICE in a row from Walmart Seattle Branch. To say it's a pain in the neck is an understatement. The very same cashier I dealt with the first time insisted(again) they do not accept printed coupons but I insisted it is accepted and immediately showed a copy of the printed rules on coupons from their website. That did not work with the cashier as well so I insisted I talk to a supervisor. Fortunately, it was the same guy who gave approval the last time I shopped. He sided with me and told the cashier it was acceptable. But still, the cashier kept talking about how it's not acceptable.

I think Walmart should re-train these people. Customers like me spend 2-3 hours shopping and only to be told the printed coupons are not valid is extremely disappointing and upsetting. It truly sucks. Please help sound this experience off to Walmart should you communicate with them again. I think it's really just a matter of re-training these people and not give us that attitude on check out. Thanks and more power to you.

I have an idea about how to deal with this Walmart issue. Walmart is a HUGE chain and your internet surfers are going to love an area on your website to explore Walmart's deals. Why not create a sort of interactive area where your visitors can post local deals in their area. It won't solve the problem for ALL areas but it would be a way to increase your site visitors' involvement and let some people take the lead in certain regional areas. It keeps you from having to be on top of a million areas and it allows your visitors to contribute. YOu could even start certain regions based on demand. You could probably single out a couple of cities in each state or something like that. Just a thought. I hope that helps. I know I would contribute. The only way I can find the deals at walmart is to walk thru the store with my coupon binder so that way I won't miss any deals.

I too had was told i could not use internet coupons at walmart. This is very disappointing and not insynch with their motto "Save money. Live better." I have emailed walmart telling them that I they should reconsider accepting these coupons but have not received a response yet. As for now I will not shop there because I can Save Money and Live Better with coupons at other stores.

Personally, I wouldn't bother messing with Walmart. What you are giving in your blog is so above and beyond what is ever expected. I've experienced false pricing and really have no use for shopping there especially when paired with other complaints I've heard. I've gotten awesome deals here and not had to step foot in Walmart to do it.

I work for Walmart in Kansas. I also have occasionally come acrossed checkers who will not honor the printed coupons. Usually it is not a problem. Lately I have noticed big price differences from store to store, more than usual. Great value products also vary in price. Some things like produce varies depending on sales. I work in a new store. Right now our Walmart honors all of the small grocery ads from the store down the street. I liked the idea mentioned in the comments about a place where we could post local deals. I would love to help. I am a homeschooling mom of four hungry boys. Last year I had to add on a full time job to help make ends meet. Any savings is a plus for our family. Thanks for your great site. God Bless! M
