I tried this and it did not work for me. I got the coupon (RR) for the free one when I bought the first one, but when I used that RR to get my free body wash, I did not get another RR.

Any advice?

I am kindof confused. When you explained the RR's I was thinking that if you bought an item you could not get a RR if you used your previous RR to pay for the same item? Example being if I go to walgreens and buy the diaper deal for 3 packs ($30) then take off $15 for the 3 coupons. I will pay $15 out of pocket and get a $10 RR. So if I go back in to Walgreens and buy 3 more pack($30) and take off my 3 coupons ($15) I can or cannot use the $10RR and pay $5 out of pocket and still get a $10RR to print out? Then repeat? Sorry, I am new at this and I am a litte confused. Thanks.

At my store the cashier even tried to tell me that my RR that I got from the colgate toothpaste for 3.50 wouldn't work on the Irish Spring. I had her scan it anyway and it did, but I haven't tried to use a RR on the same product yet.

What a great deal... too bad I don't have a Walgreens nearby.. I think they are only in the USA and not Canada. I love these types of "freebies".

Also, (slightly off topic) but in Canada, there are not any stores where you can use double or triple coupons. Makes me wish I lived very close to the border.

Great site! =)

I have 8 Walgreens stores in a 5 mile radius of my house so I go to a couple different stores...some of the cashiers get crabby with the multiple purchase transactions and I hate holding up other customers. Anyway, I buy all my RR items at one store...then go to the next store and use my RR's on regular stuff I need to get anyway or items that do not have RR's so as to keep the cashier confusion as well as my own confusion to a minimum. It is my understanding and experience that you can not use RR's to buy RR items, so I make two separate lists and shop two separate stores. Just the way I do it...still saving a ton of $$.

Christinaprey...it worked for me...knowing it is supposed to work, make sure you ask your cashier about that before you leave.

I have a RR from colgate also...I'm going to go there and try to use it on the body wash and just see what happens I guess. I agree, the RR seem to be a bit confusing. My colgage one just says "$3.50 off your next walgreens purchase" so I guess it doesn't HAVE to be off colgage?!?

ASmith, this is correct. This is an exception..good learner!

Freakincrazi,
It is always good to rotate stores. You can use RRs to buy RR items, just make sure it is for different prodcuts (look back as some of my Walgreens posts for more info on this.) Also, some do get annoyed with multiple transactions. If you have a line behind you, always go back to the end of the line after each transactions. It helps.

xrayjen... from what i read, it appears you are correct. $3.50 off anything...not alcohol, cigerettes, perscriptions, etc. though

I just went to Walgreens and got a bottle of the Irish Spring. Was able to use my $2 in RR from a previous purchase for this purchase AND get my RR for the next bottle of Irish Spring, so the RRs should work. My understanding is they work on anything except prescriptions, alcohol and tobacco.

Hello, Thank you so much for all your help.. I was a little surprised you responded back to people! Yesterday I had $1 , $2, and $4 RR for HBA items and tried to use them for the huggies deal. I had a $3 &$5 and $5 coupon. I gave the RR last as toward my payment and it would not accept. The cashier called a manager who said I cannot use RR AND coupons in the same transaction. I don't think he knew what he was talking about. Could it be I have to give the RR before the coupons or are diapers in general not eligible for using RRs? I would appreciate any insight thanks!

Krice,
He is also wrong. You CAN use RRs and coupons in the same transaction. I PROMISE! It always is best to give the RRs first. I would call coporate and explain your dilemma.

This deal really works! I used my RR for a free bottle, and another one printed!! I did end up having to pay the tax on the free one though, but $0.31 is not much to pay for an item worth almost $5. Thanks for all the tips!

I had a great deal @ walgreens today w/ the Crest pro health toothpaste, there is a $1 in 3/8 RP coupons and w/ the display (on an endcap at my walgreens) there was a ticket for a mail in rebate. The rebate is for a free box. Toothpaste cost me .49 after sale price and coupon, plus a coupon for a free box! =) Might not be at all walgreens, but it was on a special display!

Tonight my sister was explained by a cashier that the reason my huggies with three coupons and using RR did not work was because I only had three items. She explained that RR are considered in coupon count and since I only had three packs of diapers on my receipt ,each with a coupon , I had a one to one ratio. Therefore, I was not allowed to use my RR. Easy saver coupons are not included in coupon count.

Since I have so many Walgreens stores around me...I have gotten a bunch of the Irish Spring Body Wash, but have left plenty on the shelves for other people. Another item I don't use at my house, so half are going to the troops in Afghanistan and the other half to my local food pantry. My husband thinks I am a nut for getting things we don't use, but then when he helps me carry in the boxes to the food pantry...he understands. Have to tell you though...when he saw me walk in with the diapers, the look on his face was priceless...I had some explaining to do. My two neighbors appreciated them and that is all that matters.

This did not work for me either. I bought the irish springs body wash and rec'd the RR for a free one. When I went to another walgreens to purchase the soap with the RR, I did not receive another RR - the cashier said it's because I used the RR for the same product and would not receive another RR.

Anonymous said...

Krice, that is why you give them your RRs before coupons. Remember for next time! At least you have them for another time! Glad you got the diaper deal.

freakincrazi - very fitting name...I appreciate the laugh!

Freakincrazi,
I am so glad to get to know my readers better. I was so proud of you bringing those diapers home for your neighbors. You and your family will be in my prayers! Can I share your diaper story?!?! I will not make not of you, just mention a reader's story "...."
I still chuckle when you mention your husband's face.
Proud of you!

I went to Walgreens yesterday and my $10 RR didn't print for the diaper deal. When I asked the cashier why I was told that my subtotal after coupons couldn't be less than $25 (it was at $23 and change). So, lesson learned - make sure your subtotal before tax is high enough. ie - in the diaper case where you get $10 RR when you spend $25, make sure your subtotal is over $25. I asked for the manager - I would have purchased $2 more (rookie mistake) - and he just opened the drawer and handed me $10. Even better!

I went back to buy another bottle of irish spings w/ my RR i got from my first purchase. For some reason it wouldn't accept my RR but the manager came and did an override. I got another coupon too.

Anonymous said...

ShanR...good job. It NEVER hurts to ask.

Anonymous said...

xrayjen, same with me. the manager had to override the FREE RR for the irish spring.

I purchased the Irish Spring
Body Wash today and received the RR reward for $4.49 as expected. Went to another Walgreens a little later and used the RR I received earlier to get the free body wash. That was my only item. No RR printed this time. Any idea as to why it will print out at some stores and not others?

Anonymous said...

D, I am not sure. I did read some word that this was not working anymore, but then it worked for me just yesterday so I can not answer you knowing the definate truth as to why. I can say the RRs that printed for my Irish Spring was get a FREE irish spring and not $4.49 as I stated on the shopping list.

Thanks for your reply. :) I'm still feeling good about getting B1G1 free! Just wishing Walgreens was a little more consistent in how they handle their offers.
