Recall - Refrigerator Update

Well the refrigerator guys came out and said that there definitely was a fire in the wires. The relay burnt the compressor (BOTH of the items that were recalled in the original recall.) The weird thing about this all is that we have been in this house for 4 years, had the refrigerator all along (it is even older than us being here - the previous owners had it) and never had a problem. It worked great and NEVER needed a repair. The DAY BEFORE the item was going to be fixed, it burned. It is unrepairable and just a few extra minutes/hours would have lit up the kitchen, house, etc. I am so grateful for God and his plans. THANK YOU GOD. While I was upset at the time that my new cell phone did not work out, HE lead me home.
.
Anyways, today my agenda has changed and I am going to be renting a refrigerator and dealing with Maytag about the replacement (they want me to pay for some of it which I do not find fair considering the thing caught on fire and almost burnt my house.) We will see what happens. I will work hard to get the CVS/Walgreens lists up today but my time will be stretched. I WILL have it out before the sales start.
.
Thanks guys for your sweet comments. I have such wonderful readers. I always tell my husband this.

Glad you are feeling better!! I would not pay a dime toward a new one! Do you have a home warranty?

Thank God nothing else happened with the refrigerator. Glad everyone is alright and so sorry for the hassles you have had this week! When it rains, it pours. Try your best to enjoy your weekend!

I'm glad you're OK! And no, you should NOT have to pay to replace the refrigerator -- you did your part in scheduling the recall appointment, and you're so lucky nothing worse happened. They should be bending over backward to get you a new one.

I am glad that you and your family ok and house was not damaged. Would your homeowner's insurance pay for the portion of the refrigerator that they are saying you are responsible for? I hope you have a great weekend (I am sure you could use the relaxation).
